ABOUT GNTA

Students experience an interdisciplinary curriculum driven by a common core reflecting various disciplines and concentrating on effective communication, complex thinking and high standards of performance. GNTA students utilize various technologies to access and manage information, and create final projects for presentations.

Our goal is to enable students to develop a positive vision of themselves, and to become responsible, independent, self-directed learners. We have adopted a Project-based learning (PBL) system to guide and support students to think creatively, solve complex problems, communicate effectively and work in small groups.

New Tech Network, a national non-profit organization, engages with public school districts to develop innovative schools. NTN schools are centered around a culture that enables so that students graduate ready for college and career. Student achievement is the measure of our success.

CLUBS

Each year the club offerings change because the creation is student-led. Students can find social opportunities and lasting friendships by conecting with others in their specific range of skills and passions. Some clubs offer learning skills that will be beneficial to future endeavors ranging from leadership, grit, collaboration, teamwork, empathy, sense of self, and belonging.

M.E.C.h.A (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicanx de Aztlán)is club that originated in the 1960s for Chicano unity and political advancement.

A.S.B., also known as leadership, is the voice of the student body. Their efforts are needed to organize and carry out school activities, assemblies, and rallies. Students who participate in Student Council develop leadership, communication, and professional skills, often leading to higher GPAs and increased civic engagement.

Art allows students time to hone their craft of the medium of their choice. Students create their own projects led by a visual arts or woodshop teacher.

Music Intro/Music offers music theory and writing as well as learning guitar, piano, or drums. The teacher for this course is from Art & Soul.

VIVA is a club led by From Ashes We Rise (F.A.W.R) is a safe and supportive group that promotes healing and mentorship through guided reflection and cultural expression. This provides an outlet for students to consider who they are as individuals.

Academic Support for students needed additional support in ELA and math, this is an opportunity for them to receive tutoring and extra time to complete assignments.

Practice your favorite sport during club to be your best at your next game.

The Wellness Center was developed by the Wellness Committee. The small group sessions and feild trips have been shaped by the input and contributions of the students in this club.

Students can get their board gaming on. Students have enjoyed Chess, Risk, Catan, and Magic: The Gathering. Suggest your favorite game if it isn't listed because what gamer wouldn't be interested in trying something new?

Perhaps taking it back old school to cottage crafts is how you unwind? This year the students are knitting, sewing, and crocheting.

WELLNESS CENTER

Mental health is just as vital as physical health

Wellness Centers are safe, supportive spaces on school campuses where students can take a break, manage stress, and prioritize their mental well-being. These spaces offer a calm environment for self-guided activities like breathing exercises, journalism, or simply resting, and they provide an opportunity for students to connect with trained staff when additional support is needed.

In designing GNTA's facility, Alicia Said and Jessica Glentzer empowered students to build their own program and services. Additionally, local and regional partnerships including SCOE, Keystone, and others were formed to support the coordination of school-based mental health services to ensure services are responsive, sustainable, compassionate, and culturally and linguistically appropriate.

The Wellness Center is available during school hours for quick brain breaks, small groups, and private sessions.
